Had built up a nice bank, and paid for some treats. Then Goodwood arrived. Didn't back a winner all week. Even managed to miss a 100/1 Gary Moore shot. Hurt. Re-grouped.
Then one day last week I went through the card at Haydock - never done that before - admittedly betting more than one horse in each race. Threw in a nice little treble on Chris Wall's runners at Yarmouth for good measure and four more winners in the evening at Sandown. Backed 18 winners in one day, in fact. Mustn't grumble. Didn't make me rich, but did scramble back most of Goodwood's losses.
Haven't had a football bet yet. The racing has been book-ended by two golf majors. I traded both. Ended up with an all-green book in the Open, except for eventual winner Spieth, and an all-green book in the PGA, except for eventual winner Thomas. Bugger.
